San Diego which is the oldest town in California and located not far from the Mexican border in Southern California is one of the most naturally beautiful towns. It is a place blessed with favorable climate and temperatures with plenty of sunshine. It has an estimated population of over 1.4 million residents and is the eight largest city in the united states. The economy of San Diego is bolstered by its ports, shipbuilding yards and the fact that it has the only major submarine in the West Coast.

The city has over 100 identified neighborhoods of which the famous Balboa Park is one of them. This 1,400-acre site is home to a lot of historical building, museums, gardens, and green space. The Balboa Park was initially meant for the Panama California Exhibition of 1915-1916 and some of the features of that event are still present till this day. The architectural ingenuity of the buildings and the blending with the natural background makes it spectacular and beautiful. One of the intriguing things about the museum is its botanical gardens and lily pond, the Museum of Man, the Museum of Natural History, the San Diego Museum of Art, and the famous San Diego Zoo.

San Diego’s nearness to the U.S – Mexican border makes it an important area for trade between the two nations. It also houses leaders in technology and its university is at the forefront of biotechnological improvements. One of the negative aspects of the city is the high cost of living due to the real estate prices. According to house affordability rankings in the metropolitan areas of the United State, San Diego is the worst place with its high prices in real estate. In the U.S, it is regarded as the sixth lowest in crime rate.

The San Diego Zoo is a great place to go in San Diego for a lot of reasons. Not only is it a huge park with almost inexhaustible exciting animal exhibits to see, but it is also fun for all ages. The park makes an effort to entertain the youngest of kids and also the adults that go with them, or go on their own. The San Diego Zoo is 100 acres in size. It is well known for its lush, naturalistic habitats and unique animal encounters and is home to more than 3,700 rare and endangered animals representing approximately 660 species and subspecies and a prominent botanical collection with more than 700,000 plants. It is viewed in several ways, first and foremost by walking along pathways, into aviaries, and through bioclimatic zones. Zoo guests may view rare giant pandas, cuddly looking koalas, reptiles of various shapes and sizes and many more interesting species.

The tourist sites of the city includes the USS Midway Museum that is a historical relic and is open for sightseeing of the various exhibits and the 29 restored aircraft, including those used in World War II and the Korean War. Other sites like the La Jolla Cove which is home to beginner snorkelers and vibrant sea wildlife, and also Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve; the reservoir for Torrey Pines, America’s rarest pine tree, are top tourist attraction areas. San Diego is also the location for one of the biggest federal military cemetery, San Diego Fort Rosecrans Cemetery.
